Effective date: 5 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the DiyaQR mobile app ("the app", "we", "us") handles information. The app is a QR code scanner and creator published by Zia.
In short: we do not have user accounts, we do not run servers that receive your data, and we do not sell your information. The codes you create and scan stay on your device. The only third party that processes data is Google AdMob, which shows the ads in the app.
1. Information we do not collect
- We do not ask you to create an account or sign in.
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number or address.
- We do not upload the QR codes you create, the codes you scan, or your scan history to any server of ours.
- We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services of our own.
2. Information stored on your device
To work, the app keeps the following in its private storage on your phone. It never leaves your phone unless you choose to share or export it:
- the QR codes you save (image, settings and the content you typed);
- your scan history and favourites (can be switched off in Settings);
- your preferences (theme, language, export format, vibration, intro shown).
You can erase this at any time with Settings → Clear scan history and Delete all saved codes, or by uninstalling the app.
3. Permissions the app may request
| Permission / feature | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| Camera | To scan QR codes and barcodes. Images from the camera are analysed on your device and are not stored or sent anywhere by us. |
| Photos / files (system picker) | Only when you tap Gallery to read a code from a picture, or to choose a logo. You pick one image; the app does not browse your library. |
| Save to gallery | When you choose Save to gallery, the QR image is written to an album named "DiyaQR". |
| Location | Only when you tap Use my location (to fill in coordinates for a location QR code) or when you tap Connect for a scanned Wi-Fi code (Android requires this permission to join Wi-Fi networks). Your position is used on the device and is not sent to us. |
| Wi-Fi state / change | To add and connect to the Wi-Fi network contained in a QR code, only when you tap Connect. |
| Internet access | To show ads, to load a logo from an image link you enter, and to open links you choose to open. |
| Vibration | Optional feedback after a scan (can be switched off). |
You can withdraw any permission at any time in your phone's system settings.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is free and shows ads provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and operating system details, app interactions and approximate location in order to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud, and (where you agree) personalise ads. This processing is done by Google as described in:
- Google Privacy Policy – policies.google.com/privacy
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services – policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Where required by law (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland) the app shows Google's consent message before ads are requested, and you can change your choice later in Settings → Ad privacy choices. You can also reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation in your phone's Google settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
5. Content you scan or enter
Scanned content (such as links, Wi-Fi passwords or contact cards) is shown to you on the device. Nothing is opened or sent unless you tap an action. When you tap an action, the data goes to the app you chose, for example your browser opens a link, your phone app dials a number, your mail app opens a draft, or Google Search receives the text if you tap Search web. Those apps and websites have their own privacy policies. Be careful with codes from sources you do not trust.
6. Sharing and exporting
When you share or export a QR code, the file goes only to the app or place you choose (for example a messaging app or your gallery). We do not receive a copy.
7. Children
The app is a general-purpose tool and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us.
8. Security
Your data is stored in the app's private storage on your device and protected by your phone's own security. No method of electronic storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Data retention and deletion
Because the data stays on your phone, you control it: delete items in the app, clear everything in Settings, or uninstall the app. For data held by Google AdMob, use Google's tools linked above.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA) you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal data, and to object to or opt out of its use for advertising. We do not hold personal data about you on our own servers. For data processed by Google, please use Google's privacy controls. You may also contact us with any request.
11. International transfers
Google may process advertising data in countries other than your own. This is governed by Google's own terms and safeguards.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example when the app gains new features. The new version will be published at this address with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
